The
information held by the University of Stirling is one
of its greatest assets and must be managed efficiently, effectively and in accordance with relevant legislation to derive maximum business benefit and fulfill statutory duties in the management and use of information.
All University
staff who create, maintain or receive records in the
course of their work have some records management and information compliance responsibility.
This includes the need to adopt good practice in creating
and maintaining records, ensuring that records are
held in an organised and structured fashion to aid retrieval, that information requests made in terms of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act are recognised and answered and that personal information is kept and used in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. Heads of Schools and Service Directors have overall responsibility for the
management and compliance of records arising from the business of their
own department or section.
